Misbah-ul-Haq showing faith on Younis Khan ? Cricket News Update
Misbah-ul-Haq, the Pakistan captain, has immense faith in the abilities of Younis Khan and is confident that the seasoned campaigner will deliver the goods in the on-going One Day International (ODI) series against India.
After a poor series in Sri Lanka earlier this year, where the cricketer from Mardan managed merely 10 runs in three innings, Younis was dropped from the ODI squad for the series against Australia in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The former Pakistan captain however, has been recalled to the squad for the series against the Men in Blue, as the Green Shirts visit the neighbouring country for a bilateral series after five years.
Misbah is of the opinion that there is enormous pressure in the Indo-Pak matches and Younis has the capability of holding his nerves and performing well against the arch-rival. Apart from his batting skills, the Pakistan captain feels that the 35-year-old cricketer?s presence in the dressing room will help the relatively inexperienced players.
?India-Pakistan are high pressure games and Younis Khan is someone who has done well against India over the years. He knows exactly what the demands are when you?re playing against India in India,? said the Pakistan captian. ?The younger players can benefit from his experience and guidance. Not only is his contribution crucial with the bat, but also when it comes to giving advice to the youngsters.??
Younis has so far represented his country in 245 ODIs, having scored almost seven thousand runs with the help of six centuries and 47 fifties. The top-order batsman will have to do well consistently in the series against India in order to justify his selection after a run of poor performances in the limited-over sport.
While speaking about the resumption of Indo-Pak cricketing ties, the cricketer from Mianwali said that the neighbouring nations should regularly play against each other. Misbah also claimed that the matches between the traditional rivals are more sought-after than the Ashes.
?These two countries should play against each other regularly. Everyone knows that India-Pakistan is always a big series, the followers of this series are more than those of the Ashes,? Misbah mentioned.
