Is Your Job Search Like Groundhog Day? | Job Coach HQ

One of my favorite movies is Groundhog Day with Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. ?I know, make fun of me, I get it. ?The movie is 20 years old, but it is a classic! It is funny, develops good characters and has a moral.

Gobblers Knob

The moral of the movie is to be PERSISTENT!

How many times did Phil try to figure out what was going on?

How many times did Phil try end his life to make it stop?

How many times did Phil break the alarm clock at 6:00am as Sonny and Cher sang ?I Got You Babe??

How many times did Ned try to sell Phil insurance before Phil finally bought everything and called Ned his insurance agent?

?

?

Your Job Search is very similar to Groundhog Day!

You may wake up every morning and do the same things. ?You check your email, you check your phone messages, you check your Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin profiles for leads. ?You may make phone calls, attend networking meetings, schedule lunches. ?You might be going to interviews. ?You might be getting close to a job offer. ?You might get rejected (like Phil did with Nancy).

None the less, Phil kept trying to break out of February 2nd. ?Phil was persistent. ? Yes, you too, have to be persistent. ?Persistence pays off, as it did with Phil. ?He finally broke through Groundhog Day. ?You MUST be persistent to break through you job search and get the job you want.

Be persistent!

Unlike Phil at times, maintain a positive attitude, keep networking, keep connecting with people who know people, keep working LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. ?Keep reading Job Search blogs, keeping you informed and trained on the latest job search techniques and information.

Don?t give up, your Groundhog Day will end. ?When it does, it will be a great day!

For additional?Persistence?motivation, I highly recommend The Traveler?s Gift, by Andy Andrews.

?

Decision Number SEVEN is,

?I Will Persist Without Exception, I will find a way when there is no way!?

Keep going, find a way, be persistent, be positive?..you will find a job. ?Those who give up, don?t get the job!
